LabGuy's World:
Actual Videos of Extinct Video Cameras
Please note, this page is under construction until further notice. A few of the videos are over one gigabyte. So, it is recommended that you download the file in its entirety before playing it. My latest videos are in full 1080p high definition and will take serious time to download if you are not a using a fast internet connection. The good news is, you have never seen videos of this quality on YouTube! Of course, not all the videos here fit that definition. Please enjoy my home movies on this fascinating topic. ALL videos on these pages are copyright property of Labguy's World, or other respective copyright holders - used here with permission, and are subject to all normal fair use laws. If you desire more than that, contact me and let's talk. (574KB - 18 Seconds) This video is from Troy
Walters in Australia. It seems that Troy was curious to test his new [Sony AVC-3200CE]
vidicon camera outdoors. It starts out with a very nice picture until
Troy decided to check out the sun. This does not work very
well. The sun will instantly damage the target of a vidicon tube. This
image is permanently "burned" into face of the tube! Remarkably, Troy
recorded this one time event. Thanks, Troy! Original posting: 020909,

Actual video (C)2009 Troy Walters (849MB - 7 Minutes) This video is a demonstration of, and the back story about, a remarkable hand built vidicon camera I purchased on Ebay. The story falls into the "small world!" category. The desinger of the camera, a Mr. Rolf Spies (pronounced like 'freeze', forgive my mispronounciation in the video), was the manager of the Motorola EVR video film player manufacturing team! I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did uncovering the back story through the generosity of Rolf's son. (849MB - 7 Minutes) This is Labguy's answer to operating an old Sony portapac camera that requires external sync to operate. It's kind of nice to know that I can still whip out a sync generator from scratch when the need arises. Marked down and on sale at my favorite local surplus store, this camera was just too good to pass up! Created April 21, 2013 - Last updated: May 1, 2013 |
