LabGuy's World: 1967 Ampex 7016400 Vidicon Camera New! 02.05.30 1967 Ampex 7016400 Vidicon Camera .         This is a mid 1960s special purpose vidicon camera that could only be used with Ampex's consumer grade one inch type A format VTRs like my VR-6275 for instance. It uses a 1" vidicon tube and all solid state circuitry. The lens is a simple f-1.8, 25 mm type with manual iris control. The camera probably has a wide range ALC (Automatic Light Control) making it very simpe to operate. It plugged into the VTR by way of a multi-pin connector (not shown). The cable carried power up to the camera and returned the video, microphone audio and remote start and stop signals back down to the VTR. There is a simple peep hole style viewfinder, power indicator lamp, start button, stop button, microphone jack and a power on/off switch on the outside of the unit. Overall a very nice unit! In the fourth photo, I put my digital camera up to the peep sight and took a fairly reasonable picture.  (The viewfinder could use a cleaning!) The two outlined regions are for framing different focal length lenses. The inside box is for 100mm, the next box outlines the region for a 50 mm lens and the whole window is used for 25 mm.
